Why temperature measurement in the rotor with tip_e-motion?
Rotor temperature: tip_e-motion vs. simulation
At the moment, the rotor temperature in cars is calculated via a physical model from the stator temperature. However, these models contain many assumptions and averaged values. The individual behavior of a motor in the real driving situation is therefore only calculated with considerable deviations.
Our experiments with tip_e-motion in our VW Caddy (electric motor: Bosch SMG 180) show: the difference between the calculated and the actual temperature of the magnets was almost 25 Kelvin in places. Especially in challenging situations (e.g.: uphill, in city traffic) the temperature increases strongly.
TOGETHER WITH THE IAV GMBH WE FOUND OUT WHAT KNOWING THE TEMPERATURE MEANS:
LESS COST, SAME POWER
MORE POWER, SAME COST
What only we can do: With tip_e-motion from the test bench to the street
Because of its size our sensor system can be integrated from the test bench to test vehicle to series vehicle and is characterized by high adaptability to the geometry of the engine/different sensor shapes.
Compared to telemetric measurement systems:
- No influence of the measurement by electro-magnetic disturbances of the engine.
- No influence of cooling oil on the measurement
- No modification of the engine design necessary for sensor integration
