The i-dot on the B12
Soon the pro-micron “i” will be the first thing you see on the B12 in the direction of Kempten. The new pro-micron building will serve as a new home for the rapidly growing pro-micron by tripling the production area and doubling the office space. University projects, new products and innovations around Industry 4.0 are also to be developed in the future on the 3,715 square meter property directly on the B12. The five million investment by pro-micron will consolidate and promote Kaufbeuren as a technology location. Construction will start in February 2019 and the move-in is planned for mid-2020.
Bavaria supports Kaufbeuren as a technology location
The new building is good for pro-micron and thus also good for the region. For this reason, the new building project gets supported by the Free State of Bavaria with 815,000 euros. pro-micron receives the official notification of funding from the Bavarian State Minister Franz Josef Pschierer with the warm words: “I am pleased to support pro-micron and with it the technological know-how in Bavaria’s regions. Congratulations pro-micron, all the best for the future”. Also the Mayor of Kaufbeuren, Mr. Stefan Bosse, also welcomes the developments in his city and supports the building project of pro-micron.

Together with the Kempten University of Applied Sciences, the city of Kaufbeuren and local entrepreneurs, pro-micron is striving for a knowledge transfer center around the topics of machining and Industry 4.0. This is also to be located under the roof of the new building. The goal of the Technology Transfer Center (TTZ) is to unite the entire Industrie 4.0 value chain under one roof. The president of Kempten University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Schmidt, is certain that this approach is promising. The effort is endorsed by the Ministry of Economics and is awaiting approval.
Accompanying lectures Industry 4.0 in Kaufbeuren
The fact that the topic of Industry 4.0 is already represented in Kaufbeuren was demonstrated by the invited representatives of the companies Berger and HAWE-Hydraulik. As guest speakers on the topic of Industry 4.0, they showed their projects of digital networking in machining production. With both companies pro-micron maintains close partnership relations. In this course, pro-micron also presented its new projects in the field of Industry 4.0.

The product portfolio of pro-micron has expanded to include the area of “food assist”. It has managed to produce a food thermometer in series, which communicates independently to the oven and thus the food is cooked to the point by the oven itself. The client is a well-known “white good” manufacturer, who is launching the product for the Christmas season.
In the area of “Tool Control”, pro-micron has made a name for itself in the field of Industry 4.0 with the sensory tool holder spike®. Well-known customers are already using the spike® in their machining production to optimize their production processes. Data prepared in
